![]() I don't know if BBEDIT provides such a tool. If you wish this to work with BBEDIT, you need a similar tool. here, nothing happened until I had saved and closed the temporary file ▶▶▶ update foo set bar=edit(bar,'cot -w') where rowid=1 before I had time to do any editing so, no change note: the prompt below appeared immediately, ▶▶▶ update foo set bar=edit(bar,'cot') where rowid=1 ![]() My little experiment proceeded as follows: ▶▶▶ create table foo(bar) ![]() It accepts a flag -w, which causes cot to wait until CotEditor has closed the file. CotEditor comes with an associated command line utility simply called cot, which will start CotEditor on a given file. If you do this in the interactive SQLite shell, you would probably see the shell prompt immediately after invoking the edit.įor example, I don't have a copy of BBEDIT, but I tried an experiment using an editor called CotEditor (available from the App Store). Starting a GUI Application on a Mac is a rather complicated affair involving more than a simple fork(), but the principle remains: The process activating the GUI application will usually continue as soon as it has triggered the activation of the application. BBEDIT is a GUI application, whereas the edit() command in SQLite expects a path to an executable which will start an editor, and exit when the user is done. If more than one process was involved in running an editor, this could interact badly with how edit() works. There are editors that play games with file names as part of keeping a backup. In-place editing can sometimes be important. The mg editor is findable on my $PATH and knows how to edit, in place 1, a file named as its 1st argument.ġ. ![]() ln -s /Applications/CotEditor.app/Contents/SharedSupport/bin/cot /usr/local/bin/cot You may need to modify paths in this command depending on where you've installed CotEditor/cot. So, run the following line on your Terminal.app to create a symlink to the cot command. You might try using edit('notes', 'vi') (or some other not-overly-clever editor.) If you do, please report what happens.įWIW, the edit('', 'mg') function works fine as an insert value on my Mac mini running the last OS X version 10.?. The cot command is bundled in CotEditor.app. I can say that edit() works fine on Windows and Linux. To be able to run Python in Civil 3D Install the CivilPython. I do not have BBEdit on my Macs because they are headless, so I am not prepared to do repro on this. After the installation of the Civil Python the command 'PYTHON' is not recognized in Civil 3D. Have your tried using 'TextEdit' in place of 'BBEdit'? Have you looked to see if the file, (which is created as a randomly named file in the process's current directory), is present and modified while the editor is open, after a save but before quitting? (It is automatically deleted after editor terminates and the edit() function has sucked its content, so you must look at the right time. (That's what I call "a statement of ignorance.") ![]()

![]() ![]() So first I want to show you how windows react to each other. But there's a whole bunch of extra functionality hidden here if you know how to access it. This is essentially all you need to do to be able to position and resize the windows as you like. You could drag the upper right hand corner and you could drag the upper left hand corner. But you could drag any other corner as well. It will leave the top left hand corner exactly where it is but will allow me to shrink it horizontally and vertically or expand it horizontally or vertically. So the most common thing to do is to drag the bottom right hand corner to resize the window. When you drag a corner you are dragging two sides. I could do it with the top or with the left. I could do that with the bottom as well but notice that now I have up and down arrows indicating that I can drag up or down. I can click and drag left or right to resize the window. Notice that when I put the cursor over the edge it changes and shows an arrow pointing in both directions indicating what I can do. For instance if I wanted this window to be narrower I would drag the right side and move it to the left. Now you can resize windows really easily by dragging any of the four sides or any of the four corners. But most of the time you just want to keep the whole window in view even if other windows are covering it. But you can drag it below or off to the side. You can't drag a window past the Menu Bar there at the top. So grab an empty space to move the window around. Of course if there is a button there then that button is what I'm going to trigger when I click. You can do it over here on the left side as well. So, for instance, I could click here where there is an empty space and drag the window around. You can do it anywhere along the top as long as there is no other button in the way. To move a window what you need to do is click and drag at the top of the window. You can move windows around on the screen and resize them as you like. But you also have windows when you're working with documents, say in Pages or TextEdit, or in a browser like Safari. So when you work on a Mac you're working a lot with windows. If managed and executed effectively, and consistently, the Priority Matrix is a tool that helps address these challenges. Time management and teamwork are some of the areas we hear about from clients and prospects. If you, as a business or sales leader, are overwhelmed, imagine the team around you. Regardless of what environment we work in, sometimes everything seems urgent and we become overwhelmed by what we perceive to be competing priorities. The beauty of using a Priority Matrix is it keeps things simple by focusing on two factors – urgency and importance. It helps you know the critical activities and those tasks that you should bypass and can be useful in project management, small businesses, or personal tasks. This process creates the sense of urgency required to finish a project on time. What Is the Prioritization Matrix A priority matrix is a tool for rating your tasks based on urgency. The team can decide, discuss, and debate the four areas of priority before getting started, which avoids internal factors that often lead to delays, such as poor or minimal communication. This is especially true when it comes to time frame and scope. There is always an advantage of a fast-moving and busy sales or service team working together with the same priorities. These are likely projects that have been talked about however they never become recognized as valuable, and if that is the case, elimination is the best solution. ![]() Time lost in this category due to common distractions is costly to the growth of the individual and the organization. Follow-up will be critical.Ĭonsider this area as your “stop doing” list! Any activity that fits within this category is not providing you or the organization value. These are good examples of projects to delegate to employees or emerging leaders who may need to develop a skill set. Common workplace distractions and interruptions fit well within this category. What may seem highly urgent to some may not be important to your sales goals or the health of the organization. We encourage individuals to try and limit time in this area. This category includes carving out time for continued business development activity or prospecting. Continued sales and servicing existing customers keep your organization in business. That is why the Priority Matrix should be mastered!Īlthough it’s not necessary to complete these immediately, these sales and service-related tasks are critical to continued success and growth. Instead, prioritizing key tasks can make a world of difference. And when it comes to workplace productivity, multitasking can be a killer. As a leader, this can be particularly frustrating when a team is struggling to be productive.īut the truth is, without prioritizing certain tasks, it’s tough to effectively cross things off a list. In a world where multitasking is almost as natural as breathing, it’s not uncommon to feel like one is constantly working on something, but never really making any progress. Ultimately, it helps cut distractions and interruptions that can be costly to an organization’s productivity. In ITSM, the most common prioritization model involves understanding impact and urgency. It also enables individuals to quickly find those critical areas of focus for weekly scheduling. Prioritization is vital for IT and business needs: it tells us the relative importance of an incident, so you’ll know how quickly to respond to address it, and how long that effort might take. We often reference this tool in training courses to help participants spot important and urgent tasks versus unimportant and non-urgent tasks. Mary was the one who anointed the Lord with perfume and wiped his feet with her hair her brother Lazarus was ill. It was the passage about the death of Lazarus that solidified this for me, being summed up in just four words: “Jesus began to weep.” At the time, Jesus was with his disciples across the Jordan teaching and healing, so Martha and Mary sent word of Lazarus’s death through messenger: Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. He was both fully human and fully divine, experiencing emotions just like the rest of us. The answer I received one day was twofold: Jesus was not simply God, but he was the God-Man. So then, why would Jesus need a relationship like the one he had with the Bethany family? These are the questions I would ask myself repeatedly. How could it be that he had any “need” for friendship? Was he not capable of being completely self-sufficient? Of course he was! God did not create human beings because he needed them but because God is love and his overflowing love prompted our creation. Jesus was God - far above all created beings in his divine nature. I would like to think that it was the same for Martha, Mary, Lazarus and Jesus.īut when I think more rationally about the situation, I’m a bit stymied. We have genuine interest in each other’s lives and are bolstered by the mutual joy and support. We look forward to getting together and the time passes so quickly that it seems we had only just arrived, and it was time to leave. The scenes remind me of the many times I’ve gathered with friends over a meal and conversation either in our home or theirs. When I read the Scripture passages, I get the sense that Jesus felt at home with them and that their house was somewhat of a refuge for him from the crowds to whom he ministered. At least this is the way I imagine it to have been. It seems to me that the threesome was a “family away from family” so to speak for our Lord. Clearly it was an honor for them to have Jesus in their home, because Martha went into a tizzy when she was left to prepare a dinner while Mary sat at Jesus feet listening to him speak. It was Mary who washed Jesus’ feet with her tears and anointed his feet with precious oil using her hair. Jesus had visited their home more than once, sharing meals, conversations and each other’s company. They were disciples of Jesus, certainly - but even more than that, they were friends. Clearly their relationship was special because it is mentioned in all four of the Gospels. ![]() One of the most interesting relationships in the Bible is that of Martha, Mary and Lazarus of Bethany with our Lord. ![]() ![]() I use the paid Masters Edition and I can also say that their tech support is very helpful if ever I've had a question. I did have a small problem with an update once. Regarding accessibility with NVDA, I find Wavepad very accessible. Although some parts of the chain needed a little help to fall down, overall, it was a big success.
